Blocking of advertising

More and more time and online expenses are used for unwanted advertising from the internet. Specialised companies operate giant server farms which only serve one purpose: to store a giant amount of advertising banners, Flash-animations etc. and to send these data to you on your online expenses to have them displayed by your browser.

WINSWEEP will finish that! Ever since big service providers limit the flat rates, you should protect yourself from unnecessary advertising from the internet to save online expenses and time.

WINSWEEP builds up an effective protection against unwanted advertising from the internet. With immediate effect your browser will no longer accept data from thousands of servers of the advertising industry. Through that internet pages will be loaded faster. You save time and online expenses! WINSWEEP contains an extensive list of the most active and biggest advertising servers. The list is maintained and updated regularly. The current list of advertising servers which is blocked by WINSWEEP, contains over 24,000 servers.

Since blocking of servers on computers with little random access memory can result in loss of speed while surfing, the blocking of advertising is not activated automatically. In the main menu of WINSWEEP you have to click on <Ad-Blocker> and then click the button <block advertisement server>.

Features of the blocking of advertising:

  • Blocks targeted and effectively well known advertising servers on the internet.

  • Faster display of internet pages as many advertising banners and Flash-animations with advertising are not loaded any more.

  • Update-Function for current versions from the internet.

  • A list, with more than 24,000 advertising servers to be blocked, is already included in the scope of supply. This list can be extended through internet updates and own data.

  • Javascript ad-filter for all browser. This simple kludge uses a mechanism built into most browsers (IE, Opera, Netscape, and Mozilla) on most platforms to block connections to banner ad servers. This mechanism uses the "proxy auto configuration" to blackhole requests to load ad images without forcing all your traffic through an ad-blocking proxy server. Of course, unlike ad-blocking proxy servers, this does not otherwise not strip cookies.

  • For Microsoft Internet Explorer-, Opera-, Netscape- and Mozilla-browsers.
